Why Baltimore County Police SHOT and KILLED Korryn Gaines?

Facebook
I researched the facts of this story and I can tell you one thing now that I lived in Baltimore County in that very same neighborhood of Randallstown for 20 years. Not much has changed. It's a haven to upper middle class black families, mostly hard workers.

This case is tragic in many proportions. A warrant to be served for Gaines and another man, her's a mere traffic ticket and she was sitting on the floor holding a 5yo and a GUN! Around 3 p.m., after several hours of negotiation since 9.30am, police say Gaines raised the gun at officers and told them that she would kill them if they did not leave. The officers opened fire.

“Perceiving not only her actions, but the words she used, we discharged one round at her, in turn she fired several rounds back at us,” Police Chief Jim Johnson said during a news conference on Monday night. “We fired again at her, striking and killing her. Tragically in this circumstance, the child that was also in the dwelling was struck by a round.”

The man being sought fled the home with a 1-year-old child, but was later taken into custody, police said. OK, Ebony magazine, Black Lives Matter are all on this case making this woman look innocent. The #SayHerName hashtag is already trending. Did police act too fast? Gaines made a credible threat to them. The investigation shall continue along with body cams if that captured anything. This young lady returned fire to police. It is truly tragic.

The shooting of Gaines and her son — who police say had non-life-threatening injuries — quickly prompted national outrage among activists who have protested police killings in recent years. Gaines is the 9th black female killed by police this year. Many people on Twitter said Gaines got what she deserved. There are a lot of mixed reactions.
