**WARNING** **GRAPHIC** Watch as Tamir Rice, 12 was SHOT by #Cleveland Police

My take on this is just to get guns off the shelves of the toy stores. The days when Cowboys and Indians was in vogue are definitely over. This gun looked real. In this case, they should have TASERED HIM. His parents should have known that he had access to a replica BB gun like that. This is also Cleveland where gangs start recruiting kids  this young. He pointed it at cops! That was the kid's mistake. Educate your children on how police works. All police need retraining. Story below....Sad  but listen to what I sent Natalie Tusek at BBC.

The Cleveland police department released surveillance footage on Wednesday showing the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old boy in a city park on Saturday. The video, released in both real-time and frame-by-frame versions, shows Tamir Rice hanging out in a park by himself, occasionally pointing what was later revealed as a BB gun in different directions, including at a passerby whose likeness is blurred.

After talking on his phone and kicking up snow, Rice sits inside a gazebo until a squad car pulls up. Rice then stands and appears to point the gun at two officers moments before they shoot him in the torso. Because the squad car conceals Rice’s body, it is unclear at what point he is shot by police. A red circle in one of the videos shows his raised arm above the car with the gun in his hand. He died the next day.

Deputy Police Chief Edward Tomba told reporters that the video was released at the request of the Rice family and that it is “in no means an effort to try to explain the actions of the division of police or of the young man”.

Police also released audio of the two-minute-plus 911 call that led to the shooting. “He keeps pulling a gun out of his pants and pointing it at people,” the dispatcher says.

Family members say Rice was a peace-loving boy who enjoyed playing basketball and did well at school. Latonya Goldsby, 39, his first cousin once removed, says the toy gun, a replica of a semi-automatic pistol, was not Rice’s but was given to him by a friend at the Cudell Recreation Center where both boys had gone to play basketball that afternoon.

“Our family has been raised to not play with any guns. We as mothers don’t buy our children guns, even water guns,” Goldsby says. As for the gun, she says: “I know for a fact it’s not his.”

Goldsby says Tim Kucharski, the family lawyer, has been in contact with the friend, who has not yet been identified.

In a public letter released on Tuesday, Samaria Rice and Leonard Warner, Rice’s parents, asked police to release the video. “We feel the actions of the patrol officer who took our son’s life must be made public,” they wrote. “Though the hurt our family feels is too painful for words to describe, we still have faith in the justice system.”

Police named the officers involved in the incident as Timothy Loehmann, 26, and Frank Garmback, 46. Tomba said Loehmann was the officer who fatally shot Rice. Tomba said Loehmann told Rice three times through the car window to raise his hands. The gun was stripped of its bright orange marker that signified it only shot pellets.

Goldsby said Rice and his family moved to Cleveland’s west side a year ago and that he spent the majority of his time outside school playing basketball at the recreation center. “He always loved to play basketball. He wanted to be a professional basketball player, that was one of his dreams,” she said.

He was the youngest of four children and was not known as a troublemaker in school, where he earned As and Bs and pursued drawing, another passion. Although Warner was estranged from the family, Rice was close to his mother, two sisters and brother, as well as his grandmother who died in October 2011. “That was hard on Tamir. He was her baby,” Goldsby said.

Cleveland mayor Frank Jackson, police chief Calvin Williams, and other city officials held a three-hour community forum at the Cudell Recreation Center on Tuesday in front of about 300 people. Despite occasional jeers from the audience – including one woman yelling the meeting was “a shame and a disgrace” – the forum was largely peaceful. Williams said that in order to reduce the number of complaints against his department, police officers will be required to wear body cameras by late January. There will also be a new community policing program that will focus on youth, he said.

“I’m committed to having the best police department for you and our city. That’s not going to happen overnight, and that’s not to say we don’t have a good police department already. But there’s always room for improvement,” he said.

Shelly Gracon, a community activist, said the news of Rice’s death and subsequent street unrest has impacted kids Rice’s age who spend time at the park.

“You could feel the heaviness of the space because of what had happened,” she said. “I’m getting an overall sense people want to come together in addressing this and trying to figure out ways to come at this so there is some systemic change and accountability. We had a rough weekend.”

The community forum brought up the general theme of excessive force by Cleveland police and often referenced the 2012 deaths of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams who were gunned down by police following a 20-mile car chase involving 62 police cruisers. An investigation found that police fired 137 bullets into the car even though the couple did not have a gun.

The US Department of Justice launched an investigation into the Cleveland police department based on the incident and a report is still pending. Dean Valore, a former assistant US attorney assigned to civil rights legislation for Ohio, says that it is the second investigation of the department over the last decade. The procedure with such investigations typically involves the municipality promising in writing that it will implement changes recommended by the DOJ, which Cleveland did following the first report.

#BREAKING As a Gun Violence Activist, I support the Grand Jury #FergusonDecision in #Ferguson on #MikeBrown

Officer Darren Wilson

We are watching in Africa!! Below is my statement as a Gun Violence Activist and I must admit, this is how honest I feel.
I am Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo, News Director @HNNAfrica in Nigeria. Everybody talks, I am in the frontline of gun violence. As you know I am a globally known gun violence activist AMONG OTHER THINGS. I agreed with the grand jury decision. Michael Brown was a shoplifter who got in an altercation with police, the cop defended himself. Blacks destroying their own cities again, Americans displaying foolishness. I taught my black sons living as adults in America, 27 and 23 not to steal or get into breaking the law.

We need to focus on our black kids who KILL others daily in gun violence and not always go after police (especially white ones) AND WHITE FOLKS. THERE ARE A FEW EXCEPTIONS BUT we need to look at ourselves. Torching businesses and looting just shows how blacks have lost respect. I lived 30 yrs over there and fought gun violence 5 yrs in Canada.  Police are trained to shoot and defend themselves if suspects try to overpower thems in any way. Teach your children about police altercations and how to avoid brushes with the law. Listen and DOWNLOAD my podcast below.

T-Shirt gangsta>>No Justice, No Peace??
There is NO NEED for these foolish images I see on global cable networks all day. Even Al Sharpton calling for peace and ripping the arsonists and looters has not looked at the shirt of the guy next to him at this presser.

START VOTING!! This is not a popularity contest, you need to put in mind all what I do on social media.

“She could reach an audience that myself as a police officer and us as a police service were having challenges to reach,”said Constable Scott Mills, who works in social media for Toronto Police Service. “[But] she definitely made a lot of noise, which at times caused some stress. Sometimes, as a cop, in order to keep the streets safe, you have to dance with the wolves. I don’t want to call Kemi a wolf, because I think she has a good heart. But at the same time, not only in Toronto but in other jurisdictions, we have solved some major incidents because of her work.”... The Globe and Mail Canada's National newspaper 8/27/12

5yo Layla Peterson SHOT to death in #Milwaukee, Wisconsin while sitting on grandpa's lap

A 5-year-old girl was fatally shot while sitting on her grandfather's lap when two people approached her Milwaukee home and opened fire, according to police, who sought help Friday in finding the suspects.

Laylah Petersen was shot in the head when one of a dozen bullets that hit the home came through a wall about 6 p.m. Thursday. Laylah, who was sitting on a couch with her grandfather, died at a hospital.

Investigators said there was no clear motive for the shooting and they needed the public's help to find those responsible for the shooting on the city's northwest side. Police said officers had no previous calls to the home, and they don't believe anyone living at the home was specifically targeted.

"We believe that this bullet read, 'To whom it may concern.' And that concerns all of us, and that should concern everybody in our community," Capt. Aaron Raap said during a news conference Friday. "If you saw something, say something. If you hear something, say something."

Raap said initial descriptions of the shootings as being "targeted" referred to the fact that all 12 bullets fired hit the house. Officers found a dozen casings at the scene, and were looking into whether more than one handgun was used. They also were interviewing witnesses and seeking any possible surveillance video.

Police Chief Edward Flynn said two young children were being raised by their grandparents in the house, where people left flowers, toys and other items in a makeshift memorial for the little girl Friday.

"This is a stable, loving, working family in a stable working-class neighborhood where everybody is trying to do the right thing," Flynn said.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

"There is no reason conceivable that I can think of that would explain this wanton, violent act," Flynn told reporters Thursday night. "We are going to find (the shooters). We are going to arrest them. And they are going to jail."

Laylah is the third child under age 13 whose death was considered a homicide this year in Milwaukee, Lt. Mark Stanmeyer said. But the city has seen fewer homicides this year than last, 76 compared to 93 at the same time in 2013. At this point last year, four children under 13 had been killed.

ICYMI: Arrest in #Hollywood Tatoo artist Trigz MURDER!

undefined
The late Trigz
A man has been arrested in connection to the murder of tattoo artist Trigz, police said on Friday.

Robert Falcon, a 31-year-old Sylmar resident, has been charged with murder in the Oct. 9 shooting, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. His bail was set at $2 million.

Trigz, whose real name is Michael Pebley, was found fatally shot on the sidewalk on the 6300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard in North Hollywood around 5:50 p.m.

According to investigators, the victim and the suspect got into an argument at the Black Derby Smoke Shop and it escalated into a physical fight. The suspect shot Trigz and then took off, leaving him to die on the sidewalk.

Trigz, 40, was a famed tattoo and graffiti artist, actor and model. He leaves behind a fiancee and five children.

I am so happy for Trigz children and family on this arrest. People cannot just shoot to justify their anger. We will hear more on this when the courts start. Lots of Hollywood stars got their tattos there notably my pal Justin Bieber.
