Ozone Park, Queens: Oscar Morel Charged With Murder in Deaths of Imam, Assistant Near New York City Mosque

 Oscar Morel, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged Monday with second-degree murder for the shooting deaths of mosque leader Maulama Akonjee and Thara Uddin, police said. Funerals for the men were on Monday. Some reports say it may have been the result of an ongoing feud between Muslims and Hispanics in that area.

There was a surveillance footage which was graphic and helped police nail this case. You can see the suspect coming behind the backs of the two men shooting them in the head and then fleeing in the opposite direction. The Imam was carrying about $1000 in cash on him and it was not taken according to police so a robbery has been ruled out.
