What is #GunViolence today in 2015?

Gun violence is violence committed with the use of a gun (firearm or small arm). It may or may not be considered criminal. Criminal gun violence includes homicide (except when and where ruled justifiable), assault with a deadly weapon, and suicide, or attempted suicide, depending on jurisdiction. Report illegal guns to your law enforcement.

It affects all of us. Pls don't ignore it. Read up on Gun violence here.

Has 2015 been the Year of the #MassShooting?

We have gun violence all wrong: Mass shootings only tell a fraction of the story

According to articles this week across the Internet, there has been an average of one mass shooting every day in the United States: 355 so far this year. It’s a jarring statistic, and one that has gone viral in the wake of this week’s massacre in San Bernardino, California.

But there are two problems with the number: It doesn’t actually provide a clear estimate of how often the country has seen shooting rampages like the one in San Bernardino. And it obscures the broader reality of gun violence in America.
Counting “mass shootings” is notoriously complicated and contested, since there is no standard definition of what they are. Is it best to count shootings that injure or kill a certain number of people? Or should the definition focus more narrowly on attacks in which the motivation of the shooter “appears to be indiscriminate killing”?

Mother Jones, which has been tracking mass shootings since 2012, has counted just four mass shootings this year, and a total of 73 since 1982, as Mother Jones editor Mark Follman has noted in The New York Times.

In 2014, the FBI released its own count of “active shooter” incidents, focusing on events where law enforcement and citizens may have the chance to intervene and change the outcome of the ongoing shooting. It tallied a total of 160 of these events from 2000 to 2013–including high-profile shootings at Virginia Tech, Fort Hood, and Sandy Hook Elementary School– with an average of 11 per year.

The “355 mass shootings this year” that has been rocketing around the Internet comes from a crowdsourced Reddit initiative that gathers media reports of shootings in which four or more people were shot.

The Reddit count includes many incidents that Mother Jones, the FBI, and others leave out: for instance, a home robbery, a drive-by shooting, and a gang fight.

The Reddit project’s organizers suggest this broader approach does a better job of capturing the burden of gun violence–including the suffering and costs of treating people who are shot and survive.

“The most obscene incidents of gun violence usually do not make the mainstream news at all,” the project’s introduction says, citing a nightclub shooting in Tennessee in which 18 people were shot and only one person killed. “We believe the media does a disservice to mass shooting victims by virtually ignoring them unless large numbers are killed.”

Yet bundling together all incidents in which four people or more people are shot doesn’t capture the bigger picture.

As ProPublica detailed last week, gun murder in America is largely a story of race and geography. Half of all gun murder victims are black men. The gun murder rate for black Americans is dramatically higher than it is for white Americans. And the burden of violence tends to be concentrated in certain neighborhoods of certain cities.

Reddit’s Mass Shooting Tracker does not include any breakdown by race. In response to questions about the group’s numbers, one project organizer,GhostofAlyeska, wrote, “Our intent is not to analyze the causes or cures for gun violence, but simply to expose the available data. We’re volunteers working from a reddit community, nothing more.”

The Reddit project cites 462 people killed under its broad definition of mass shootings. The number of gun homicides of black men killed in 2013, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: 5,798.

Baltimore alone has seen a total of 316 total homicides so far this year–the vast majority of them shooting deaths of black victims, according to the Baltimore Sun’s homicide map. The city’s homicide rate is now at a record high. The Reddit tracker captures eight of those deaths.

San Bernardino has two entries in this year’s Mass Shooting Tracker: yesterday’s attack, and a nightclub shooting reportedly linked to gang violence. The area has long struggled with poverty, gangs, and homicide. “My son was shot to death with an AK–47. My nephew was murdered and his body was burned and buried,” San Bernardino resident Marisa Hernandez told Vice News on Wednesday. “This type of mass shootings happens everyday here to our kids and nobody stops it, nobody does anything.”

Lawmaker says US Immigration did NOT fully vet the fiancee visa of female #SanBernardino shooter!

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlattesaid Saturday that immigration officials did a poor job reviewing the financée visa application of Tashfeen Malik, one of the shooters in the San Bernardino, Calif., rampage that left 14 dead.

Goodlatte said he reviewed the application and found there was insufficient evidence to prove Malik and U.S. citizen Syed Rizwan Farook, had met in person — a requirement for a foreign national seeking a K-1 financée visa before being allowed entry into the U.S.

"Visa security is critical to national security, and it's unacceptable that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services did not fully vet Malik's application and instead sloppily approved her visa," Goodlatte, R-Va., said in a statement.

The application contained a statement by Farook that he and Malik had met in Saudi Arabia and copies of pages from their passports showing both had stamped entry visas into Saudi Arabia in 2013 that were written in Arabic.

The immigration official reviewing Malik's visa application to the U.S. requested translation of the stamps into English to confirm the pair was in Saudi Arabia at the same time, however they were never provided, Goodlatte said.

Family Members Clear Belongings Out of San Bernardino Shooters' Home
WILL LESTER/THE INLAND VALLEY DAILY BULLETIN/AP
The apartment where the San Bernardino shooters lived, and where authorities said they stockpiled ammunition and bomb parts, was cleared out Saturday by a group of relatives, reports the San Bernardino Sun and Los Angeles Times.

Landlord Doyle Miller told the Sun he plans to continue renting the Redlands, California, apartment, after extensive repairs.

Relatives of Syed Rizwan Farook – including his mother, brother, brother-in-law, and the family lawyer – gathered to start removing the couple's possessions just after 10 a.m. local time, according to the Sun.

With a U-Haul, the Farook family was helped by movers as they went in and out of the house, according to the Press-Enterprise.

Items removed ranged from furniture and appliances, as well as a baby crib and a stroller – presumably used by the pair's 6-month-old daughter – according to the Press-Enterprise.

Authorities said that Farook, 28, and his wife, 29-year-old Tashfeen Malik, killed 14 people and wounded 22 others earlier this month after opening fire at a holiday party at San Bernardino's Inland Regional Center.

Both were killed hours later during a shoot-out with police.

When officials first searched their home following the Dec. 2 attack, they said they found the parts to build 19 pipe bombs and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Earlier this week, Enrique Marquez, Farook and Mailk's neighbor, was chargedwith the unlawful purchase of two assault rifles that were used in the deadly shooting, and with conspiring to commit crimes of terrorism in 2011 and 2012.

Authorities allege that Marquez bought the weapons because Farook did not think he would pass a background check.

The two movers assisting the family on Saturday, Daniel Nunez and Jore Zarate, told the San Bernardino Sun they were shocked when they figured out who the townhouse belonged to.

"It makes you a little nervous to know you are so close to what happened that day," Nunez told the paper.

The Farook family was at the property for under three hours on Saturday as two Redlands Police officers sat across the street to watch, according to the Press-Enterprise.

After the family left, Miller replaced the plywood board that covered the door.

The ‘failed attempt’ on General Buratai’s life
Who do you believe?--#Snitchlady
Sheik Ibraheem Zakzaky, 62, the ever turbaned, tough looking leader of the Shiite Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, is an Islamic scholar and a tempestuous preacher. He speaks straight to the powers-that-be and has survived many jail terms in the hands of military governments in the ‘80s and ‘90s for sedition. Never hiding his hatred for Israel and the United States, he lost three sons and 35 followers after a pro-Palestinian protest with the military on July 25, 2014 in Zaria, Kaduna State turned bloody. And penultimate Saturday night, gunfire and occasional explosions kept residents of Gyelesu area of Zaria nervously awake in their homes.

An estate, which housed Zakzaky – a first class graduate of economics from the Ahmadu Bello University (I979) – had been condoned off by soldiers, and was the theatre of the gun battle.

Even in the gust of the cold, dusty harmattan, residents in high rise buildings around the area claimed that a peep through the window showed battle ready soldiers taking position with their weapons, spitting fire into the large compound where Zakzaky, his household and hundreds of followers were holed up.

It was not clear if the embattled Shiite Muslims were firing back at the troops, since both sides later gave contradicting accounts. But, residents, who spoke to Sunday Vanguard, claimed to have heard piercing screaming of women and children, with men barking out orders from the compound. The battle went on, right through the night and continued after day-break, until Sunday.

Zaria, an old Hausa city, with a blend of ancient homes and modern buildings, located on the south-most fringe of the Sahel in Kaduna State, had experienced a violent encounter between the Nigerian Army and the IMN the previous day (Saturday).

Video clips show a group of people, some of them wielding clubs, machetes and knives, refusing armed soldiers passage on a major road. An unidentified Brigadier General and his men emerge, vehemently pleading with the leaders of the group to leave the road, but to no avail. Objects are thrown at the soldiers as they try to navigate the unruly situation. Suddenly, the crowd, which also has some women, becomes riotous.

The clips then show scenes of burning tyres and cleared barricades on a street but, this time, deserted. The clips are the evidence of a resolvable issue that later became ugly, leading to the siege on the compound of Zakzaky that Sunday night.

That penultimate Saturday evening, the Nigeria Army and the Shiite Muslims had traded blames over the afternoon confrontation between soldiers and the sect.

COAS escaped assassination from Shiites – Army

A statement by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, issued, in Abuja, read: “The Shiite sect, on the orders of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zak zaky, today afternoon, in Zaria. attacked the convoy of the Chief of the Army Staff, while on his way to pay homage to the Emir of Zazzau and attend the Passing Out Parade of 73 Regular Recruits Intake of Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria.

Why is the Nigerian Army SHOOTING up Biafran people in Eastern Nigeria? The rampage continues!

Why this continues to happen and the President of our country is silent does not make sense. Sporadic shooting all week in the South and North specifically at peaceful protests.

At least four people are believed to have been killed in Anambra State during celebrations following a high court decision to release controversial director of Radio Biafra.

Thousands of people took to the streets of Onitsha, a town in Anambra, on 17 December after learning that charges against Nnamdi Kanu – arrested by the state security department (DSS) in Lagos in October – had been dropped.

While supporters of Kanu – who is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) – were celebrating, the army allegedly used live bullets on the cheering crowd, some alleged. There are contrasting reports on the number of the alleged victims as local media say the death toll could be as high as 10.

Mazi Mmaduabuchi Anyagulu, a member of Ipob, told IBTimes UK: "Yesterday (17 December) four of our people, who were rejoicing for the release of our leader, were murdered by the Nigerian Army at the Onitsha Bridge Head. Thirteen were hospitalized at the Multicare Hospital.

"Last night around 10 pm, members of the Nigerian army invaded the hospital where they were being treated and took away those at the hospital. They were taken back to the military barracks in Onitsha."

6yo #Autistic boy SHOT dead by cops while chasing his father's car.

No doubt the dad should be charged too for endangering his son.

Hello Beautiful reports that Officers Norris Greenhouse Jr. and Derrick Stafford have been charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder following the death of six-year-old Jeremy Mardis.

Greenhouse and Stafford were shooting at Mardis’ father, Chris Few who was critically injured in the incident which took place in the central Louisiana town of Marksville.

A total of 18 shots were fired. The young boy was in the front seat of his father’s pickup truck wearing his seatbelt while he was fatally wounded five times in the head and chest. His father received bullet fragments to the head and lungs.

Four officers were involved in the incident, however, no word on whether or not the other two will face charges. But one was wearing a bodycam and the footage helped lead to the arrest of Greenhouse and Stafford.

There’s no word on the cause of the incident but Col. Mike Edmonson, Superintendent of the Louisiana State Police shared, “As a father, much less head of the state police, I looked at that tape [and] I said this is incredibly disturbing.”

According to the NY Daily News, authorities are in the midst of piecing together evidence from the crime scene including 911 calls and witness interviews.

The DailyMail also uncovered that both officers have a history of misconduct. In 2011, Greenhouse was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of aggravated rape. There also five pending civil lawsuits against the officers including incidents of unlawful tasering as well as an excessive force case in which Stafford was said to have broken the arm of a 15-year-old girl while placing her under arrest.

Should Greenhouse and Stafford’s badges have been taken long before this incident?

Is there a double standard when it comes to justice for Caucasian and African American victims? Do you think the police would have been charged so immediately if the victim were a black boy?

New York City cop Randolph Holder dies after being shot in East Harlem on Tuesday 20th October 2015

Randolph-Holder.jpg

Randolph Holder, a 33-year-old New York Police Department officer, was killed in the line of fire during a shootout late Tuesday night.

Mr Holder had responded to gunshots on Saturday near East 102nd Street and 1st Avenue in Harlem at 830pm EST, NBC New York reports. After confronting a man who was riding a bike, police exchanged gunfire with the man and Mr Holder was struck in the head. The officer was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:22pm EST.

The suspect, who hasn't been identified, was also wounded and apprehended during the shooting. He was rushed to the hospital and was taken into police custody on Wednesday morning.

Mr Holder was a third generation police officer in his family with his father and grandfather serving as cops in Guyana.

Police Commissioner Bill Bratton held back tears during a press conference Tuesday night calling the fallen officer a "superhero" who ran toward danger.

"I extend our deepest condolences to his family, especially to his father, who in his time of grief sought to comfort the officers from PSA 5. He was strong enough and brave enough to go in and address them. As they tried to comfort him, he in fact was comforting them.”

He is the 4th to be killed this year in the line of duty. Truly sad

4-yo girl SHOT and killed in road rage shooting in #Albuquerque #NewMexico

Albuquerque Police Chief

"This is one of those crimes that is unexplainable. It's 100% preventable. It did not have to happen. We need to rise up as a community and say enough is enough."

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Police are asking for the public's help as authorities try to identify and find an assailant who shot and killed a four-year-old girl on an Albuquerque freeway.

The shooting about an hour before the start of evening rush hour on Tuesday was the result of what Police Chief Gorden Eden described as an unexplainable crime brought on by road rage.

Interstate 40, the highway where the shooting happened, would have been heavy with traffic at the time the shooter opened fire, he said.

"We have absolutely no suspect information at this time," he said. "We need the community's help. You had to have seen something. Please call us."

He confirmed the girl's death at an evening news conference, saying the shooting represented "a terrible, tragic loss" and a "disrespect for human life."

Two arrests in Newry shootings investigation in Northern #Ireland

Police said they were working to identify a motive for the shootings

Two men have been arrested by police investigating two shootings in Newry, County Down, last month.

Two men were shot in the legs during attacks on Sandy Street and Armagh Road in the city on 17 September.

Police searched a house at Churchill Park in Portadown on Tuesday night and arrested two men aged 34 and 20.

The 34-year-old is being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder, as well as the possession of firearms and class A drugs.

The 20-year-old was arrested for possession of firearms in suspicious circumstances and possession of class A drugs.

Three guns and a quantity of suspected drugs were seized during the search.

Last month, a 26-year-old man was charged with two counts of attempted murder, kidnapping and possession of a firearm with intent over the two shootings in Newry.

In the first incident, a man called at a house in Sandys Street and, after an argument, shot the occupant in the leg.

A short time later, another man, was taken from a house at Ardfield Avenue, Warrenpoint, by four masked men and driven to the Armagh Road in Newry, where he was also shot in leg.

Blood-spattered car linked to Auburn bus stop shootings in #Tacoma

151020_auburn_big

A blood-spattered car found abandoned in Tacoma is believed to be the one used by a suspect or suspects who shot a teenage boy and his father at a bus stop in Auburn on Tuesday, police said. The car, a green-and-black Acura, has been reported stolen out of Federal Way and matches witness descriptions of the suspects' vehicle. It was recovered Tuesday night in Tacoma, said Cmdr. Steve Stocker of the Auburn police.
Blood spatters on the driver’s window and seat area are believed to be from the 17-year-old boy, who was shot at close range when he approached the car at a bus stop in the area of 21st Street SE and F Street SE. The teen died at the scene, Stocker said.

The boy's 41-year-old father also was shot and is now listed in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He is not expected to recover, Stocker said. He said investigators are checking for possible fingerprints on the Acura and other evidence.

"Hopefully that will lead us to who the suspects are," Stocker said.

The incident unfolded sometime before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday as the father and his two sons were sitting at the bus stop. The Acura pulled up to the curb and the 17-year-old son approached the car. There was an altercation, and someone in the Acura opened fire, hitting the 17-year-old son and the father. The second son was not hurt.

Police say the victims had no known gang affiliations or connections.

Two juvenile girls have died in a shooting in Colerain Township. A third teenage victim is being treated at the hospital.

Police were called to a home on Banning Road just before 3 a.m. The suspect surrendered once police arrived on scene.

Police have not released further details.

Investigators were called to the 4200 block of Matson Avenue in Deer Park around 12:30 a.m. for a shooting that turned deadly. The Hamilton County Coroner's Office said Zachariah Stookey, 20, was killed.

Investigators said they are in shock because this type of violence does not happen in Deer Park.

However, the police chief said the department is working aggressively to find a suspect, and that they are equipped to handle the investigation.

Around 12:50 a.m., someone was shot at the Third Base Bar on Crawford Street in Middletown.

Emergency crews took the victim to Atrium Medical Center with unknown injuries. There is no word yet on any arrests.

Then around 1 a.m., Cincinnati police were called to a shooting in Over-the-Rhine.

Investigators say a man and woman were walking by the Shell Gas Station on Liberty Street when the man got into an argument with another man. The suspect allegedly opened fire, shooting the man who was walking with the woman.

The bullet hit the victim in the leg. He is in stable condition at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Police are now questioning the suspect.

At that point, the man got out of his vehicle and ran to 57th and Ashland, where paramedics took him to Stroger Hospital, Sweeney said. The man's condition had stabilized. Police said he is a known gang member and believe the shooting was gang related.

A 16-year-old boy was critically wounded in a shooting Tuesday on the West Side, police said. The shooting happened at 12:10 p.m. in the 4900 block of West Monroe Street in the Austin neighborhood, according to police. Black Transgender Woman Fatally Shot In Head In Suspected Hate Crime

For the second time this month, a black transgender woman has been killed.

Authorities in Montgomery Village, Maryland, are investigating the killing of Zella Ziona as a hate crime, according to NBC Washington.

"We are not ruling out the possibility that this could be hate-based," Montgomery County police spokesman Capt. Paul Starks told the station.

The 21-year-old victim was found in an alley Thursday night after being shot in the head. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

A witness to the killing told WJLA he heard four to five gunshots following an argument between Ziona and a group of teenagers.

"They argued and things happened so fast," the witness, who didn't want to be named, told the station. "I don't know what they argued for."

Ziona is one of at least 21 transgender women who have been killed in the U.S. this year, according to The Advocate. The actual number may be much higher, as family members of a victim may not report to police or media that the individual was trans. At least 17 of the 21 victims this year, including Ziona, were women of color.

On Friday, friends of Ziona brought candles to the alley where she was found.

"She was just amazing," Barbie Johnson told NBC Washington. "When Zella's around, there's not a single frown in the room."

"It's tragic," Rock Clarkson, who was in the area where Ziona was killed, told WJLA. "Senseless violence is something none of us wants to live around."

Watch this motorcyclist point a GUN at a motorist and he is NOT CHARGED with a crime!

CBS46 News

It happened in Coweta County, Georgia. Glad the driver didn't shoot him first cos he had no idea what may have been in that car. A motorcycle rider pulled out a gun and pointed it at the driver of a car right behind him, Sunday. It happened in Coweta County near the border of Fayette County. To the man who captured the incident on his private dashboard camera, it looked like road rage, plain and simple. The witness who recorded the video is a former Georgia police officer.

CBS46 is protecting his identity because of the nature of his current work. In his opinion, he said the rider put everyone near him in danger. If the rider felt threatened, he said it looked like he had the power to get away from the situation. "Drawing a firearm, in just about every case, should be an absolute last resort. It seems like it was this guy's first resort," said the witness. The witness followed the motorcycle while on the phone with 911 and helped police catch up with him. The rider was put in handcuffs, but in a surprise move, Coweta County Sheriff's deputies decided to let him go.

"This guy is college-age. We know what just happened in Oregon. How do you not take a firearm out of the hand of a guy who's going to behave this way- who's going to act this reckless," said the witness. So what was their reason for not arresting him? The witness said deputies told him they didn't think the people in the black car would be in town to testify at the first appearance in court. It's an excuse the former police officer said he's not buying. In the opinion of the witness, police should have charged the man with disorderly conduct at the very least. "If I pull a weapon on someone in broad daylight, if I commit aggravated assault, and I don't even go to jail, I don't even get a ticket- they didn't give a citation to this guy- what do I have to do to get arrested in Coweta County?" asked the witness. Peachtree City Police were the first ones to catch up with the suspect, but when Coweta County deputies arrived, the witness said they called their supervisor and received instructions to let the man go.

Coweta County Sheriff's Lt. Col. James Yarbrough sent CBS46 the following written statement: "The initial report was made to Peachtree City Police this date by the victim flagging down one of their officers. After the victim called 911 and gave a description of suspect, the motorcycle and direction of travel, Peachtree City found a subject matching that description. Also a witness stopped and advised officers that he had gotten the incident on his personal dash cam . Upon viewing the video officers discovered the incident had happened in Coweta county and we were notified to assist. We spoke with witness and have the information on the suspect, but the victim told PTC police he needed to go home to Henry county and was not available for us to take a report/statement or to take a look at the suspect. All of our interviews were videoed and recorded and the investigation is continuing and we hope to have the victim in soon for his report." The witness said he felt like he should also be considered a victim because the gun was briefly pointed at him as the rider was drawing it. He said he is planning to ask a judge, Monday, for an arrest warrant as a private citizen. That is something Georgia residents have the power to do if they disagree with an officer's decision not to charge someone with a crime.

#BREAKING Douglas Co Sheriff Hanlin wrote @VP Biden to kill GUN CONTROL. Now 10 die on his doorstep! #UCCShooting

"Gun control is NOT the answer to preventing heinous crimes like school shootings"

Is Sheriff Hanlin a coward? He supported no gun control and now it's come to his doorstep. What kind of KARMA is this?

A little over two years before gun violence arrived at his doorstep in the form of Thursday’s mass shooting at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College, Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin had sent a pointed letter to Vice President Joe Biden denouncing proposed gun-control laws.

In the letter, sent soon after the 2012 school shooting in Newtown, Conn., in which 26 people (mostly children under the age of 10) were gunned down, Hanlin expressed a refusal to enforce antigun laws that he said were “unconstitutional.”

“Gun control is NOT the answer to preventing heinous crimes like school shootings,” he said.

Hanlin said in a press conference on Thursday that he would not name the shooter who opened fire at the UCC. “I will not give him credit for this horrific act of cowardice,” he said.

At one point I was concerned that Hanlin was hiding too much about this shooter. Could have been the fact that this gun control letter was gonna haunt him and come out in the media. Below are my suspicion tweets.

Umpqua Shooter identified as 26yo Chris Harper Mercer a BLACK #American PRO JIHADIST #UCCShooting

It was yet another nightmare as I sat down to dinner here in Nigeria to see the CNN Breaking News logo fly across the TV screen that another massacre had claimed the life of at least 10 people with over 20 injured at a community college in Oregon, USA. The students of Umpqua community college on their first day of school were shocked when a gunman armed with 4 guns, a pistol and an AR-15 rifle entered their classrooms shooting people. A school with gun-free zones signs and no armed security guards.

Online chat room rants by this gunman showing superiority and claiming he was in the Seattle area and going to shoot up a school with anonymous chat members telling him to stop and some even cheering him up with nobody reporting to the police. It boils down to the same thing I always preach about reporting crimes or potential crimes. Nobody called the FBI's anonymous tip lines.

Media preview
Chris Harper Mercer

Now law enforcement are racing to see who 26yo Chris Harper was. His name has not been officially released but citing anonymous law enforcement officials, that was him.

The massacre in Roseburg, a former timber town in Umpqua River Valley, is the latest in a series of mass shootings at U.S. college campuses, movie theaters, military bases and churches in recent years. It marked the deadliest since a shooting rampage in June at a South Carolina church that killed nine.

The killings have fueled demands for more gun control in the United States, where ownership of firearms is protected by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, and better care for the mentally ill.

President Barack Obama, speaking just hours after the rampage, said the mass killing should move Americans to demand greater gun controls from elected officials.

"Somehow this has become routine," a visibly angry Obama said. "The reporting is routine. My response here, at this podium, ends up being routine. ...We've become numb to this."

Kortney Moore, 18, told the local News Review newspaper that she was in her writing class in Snyder Hall when a gunshot came through the window and struck her teacher in the head.

Moore said the gunman told people to get on the ground, then asked them to stand up and state their religion before he started shooting. He was a PRO IRA an PRO JIHADIST and an aethist who lived with him mom at an apartment close to the school. A British born child of a mixed couple.

Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin said three of the shooting victims were listed in critical condition on Thursday evening.

PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center emergency room doctor Hans Notenboom told reporters three women between the ages of 18 and 34 were flown to the hospital in Riverbend by helicopter, and two were moved directly into operating room.

Survivors were transported to a local fairgrounds and some family members were left waiting for hours to see if their loved ones would be among them.

"We have grief counselors waiting for those parents who have no children getting off that bus," said the college's president, Rita Calvin.
The college tweeted nothing about the massacre but only mentioned that school was closed today and Monday as it was a crime scene while students were using social media like crazy.

Following the bloodshed a convoy of state and federal authorities descended on Roseburg. Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were on their way to Roseburg.Police descended on an apartment about 2 miles (3 km) from the campus possibly linked to the suspect, where police tape prevented access. It was not immediately clear who lived in the residence. The ATF tweeted hat they were on their way there.

The college, which began its fall term this week and serves more than 13,000 students, 3,000 of them full-time, said it would be closed until Monday. A candlelight vigil was scheduled for nightfall.

#Houston Teen fatally shot while taking selfies with gun!

screen_shot_20150902_at_9.04.42_am

I said this for years in Toronto and there were three cases like that I knew back then. so tragic when you find a gun, don't touch it. Call 911!!! This kid is now dead because he decided to pose with the gun. He even dressed like a gangmember in the selfie. May he rest in peace.

A man posing with a gun and taking selfies was killed when the gun went off and struck him in southwest Houston, police said.

Family members said the victim is 19-year-old Deleon Alonso Smith.

Investigators said Smith was taking selfies with a gun at an apartment in the 9800 block of Forum Park Drive and Bissonnet around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when the gun accidentally went off, shooting the 19-year-old in the throat and killing him. "It's the worst feeling in my life," said the victim's uncle Eric Douglas.

"It's a numb feeling. It's still unbelievable. Yesterday was my birthday and he came to wish me happy birthday, and now this kind of news," said Smith's grandmother Alma Douglas.

Family members said Smith has two young children and was starting college Wednesday.

Investigators said Smith's cousin was in the apartment but in another room when it happened. The cousin told police they found the gun earlier Tuesday, but investigators are working to find out where.

Police said Smith believed the gun was unloaded at the time.

No charges have been filed.

Georgia Officers Arrive at Wrong House, Shoot Unarmed Man, Kill His Dog

Trigger happiness but they were black cops and why is Black lives Matters quiet? So cowardly. Those cops are now on administrative leave.

Returning home from her Monday evening walk, Tama Colson rounded the corner into her subdivision and saw DeKalb County police cars.

Then she heard the gunshots — and her neighbors’ anguish.

“I hear Leah screaming, I see Chris walking out, ‘They just shot me, they just shot me, and they killed my dog’,” Colson said Tuesday. “So I got him to lay down, took my shirt off and rendered first aid. And Chris just kept saying, ‘Why did they shoot me? Why did they shoot my dog?’

Those are the key questions in the fourth controversial police shooting in DeKalb County in less than two years — an incident in which, according to authorities, officers responding to a burglary call went to the wrong home, shot the unarmed homeowner, killed his dog and wounded one of their own.

Now the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is sifting through information to get answers in this case as DeKalb officials and others in law enforcement cite the current challenges officers face.

“Are we perfect?” DeKalb director of public safety Cedric Alexander said. “Absolutely not. But when we find a mistake, we own it. We own the fact that we were at the wrong house. We didn’t hide it. We didn’t mismanage it. We were at the wrong location based on information that was given to us.”

Father and son SHOT and KILLED in #Twinsburg #Ohio domestic dispute

                                                   (Michael Chritton/Akron Beacon Journal)

TWINSBURG: Two people are dead and a third is wounded after an apparent domestic disturbance turned deadly Tuesday night in Twinsburg.

Authorities say a 55-year-old man died at the Cleveland Clinic Twinsburg Family Health & Surgery Center after the 6 p.m. shooting at a home near the intersection of Sherwin Drive and Darrow Road.

Twinsburg police said the gunman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the two victims will not be released until Wednesday morning.

The extent of the injuries to a third victim were not disclosed, but the individual was transported to the emergency room at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, police said.

Twinsburg Police Lt. Gina DeVito-Staub said officers and rescue units were dispatched to 2425 Sherwin Drive at 5:49 p.m. for a reported shooting at the residence.

DeVito-Staub said “security measures” had to be taken to secure the scene to tend to the wounded.

Nearby residents were ordered inside their homes as gunfire filled the air once again after officers and fire department personnel arrived at the home.

Shortly after the shooting, police also ordered the Kent State Regional Academic Center on Creekside Drive in Twinsburg into a lockdown.

Kent State spokesman Eric Mansfield said there were about 200 students and faculty in the Twinsburg Regional Academic Center when the lockdown was ordered.

The all-clear was issued around 7:30 p.m. and classes were canceled for the night.

John Ruda, who lives on Darrow Road, said he had just returned home with his family from dinner when a number of police cars came screaming into the neighborhood.

He said he pulled out his cellphone and began recording and then ducked for cover as he heard police officers screaming at someone followed by numerous gunshots.

“Police cars were driving onto lawns and they came out with their guns drawn,” Ruda said.

McKenzie Aigler, 18, said he knew the older couple who lived in the house where the shooting occurred.

He said the couple’s son and his wife also lived on the property.

“They were the nicest couple in the neighborhood,” he said.

Ken Coon, who lives on the corner of Sherwin Drive and Darrow Road, said he was inside with his 6-year-old grandson when shots rang out.

The grandson, Coon said, turned to him and said, “Papaw. You hear someone’s shooting?”

Coon said the neighborhood is normally a quiet place to live.

“In today’s society, this could happen anywhere,” he said.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations was called to the scene.

Virginia shooting victim's father says he will need to buy gun to defend himself

Alison Parker
Facebook
The father of Alison Parker, the journalist shot dead on live television on Wednesday, has said that now he is campaigning for gun control he will probably have to get a firearm to defend himself.

Andy Parker, spoke to reporters on Friday after he visited the television station, WDBJ7, where his daughter worked before being murdered - along with cameraman Adam Ward - by their former colleague Vester Lee Flanagan.

He continued to push for stricter gun control in the United States, where decades of mass shootings have failed to produce meaningful reform.

“I want to go to the Virginia legislature and I want them to look me in the eye and tell me why we can’t have a reasonable proposal, any reasonable background checks, the things common sense dictates,” Parker said. “I want them to look me in the eye and tell me why they won’t support that.”

The Shooting continues in #Chicago with 3 people wounded!

Three people were wounded in separate shootings Saturday morning on the city's South, Far South and West sides, officials said.

The latest shooting happened about 6 p.m. on the 5500 block of South Shields Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

Preliminary information said a 27-year-old man was shot in the back and taken to St. Benard Hospital, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The details leading up to the shooting and the man's condition was not not immediately available. Earlier Saturday, another man was shot farther south in the city's Morgan Park neighborhood.

That shooting happened about 11:35 a.m. on the 11100 block of South Aberdeen Street, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

An 18-year-old man was outside when someone approached and shot him in the left lower leg. He was taken in good condition to Roseland Community Hospital, Lemmon said.

About an hour before the Morgan Park attack, a 37-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting on the city's West Side.

That shooting happened about 10:30 a.m. on the 4400 block of West Lexington Street in the Lawndale neighborhood, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

Preliminary reports indicated the victim was standing outside when a tan sedan pulled up and someone inside fired shots, Sedevic said.

The man was struck in the groin area. He was taken in fair condition to Stroger Hospital, Sedevic said.

Police were investigating.
