Timothy Batts, 29, was charged with the murder of his 11-year-old daughter, Timea. He told police he shot her when she "yelled and scared him," The Tennessean said, citing court documents. Cutrese Starnes, mother of Timothy Batts, wants anyone who listens to know her son was an active father who was always trying to better his life and the lives of his four children.
The father, being held on multiple charges including reckless homicide, said he mistook her for an intruder because she came home earlier than expected.
The man initially lied to police about the shooting, telling investigators his daughter was shot after getting off the school bus.
