I reported this earlier on Twitter. This has only happened in Dallas in the last year before that city went thru the murder of the 5 police officers.
Newport News Police in Virginia say their headquarters building, located at 9710 Jefferson Avenue, was shot at several times around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Staff members were inside the building at the time of the shooting, but no one was injured.
Several windows were damaged as a result of the shooting. Police say one round entered an empty office in the Records Division, where employees were working nearby. Two other rounds hit the Property and Evidence building, and two rounds were fired at the entrance to the main building, but did not penetrate the building.
Police have reviewed surveillance video and say it appears one man armed with a handgun was shooting at the building. They’re continuing to analyze the video in the hopes of identifying the suspect.
Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
Anyone with information that may help police is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
