@Beyonce shares red carpet at #VMA's with MOMS of #BlackLivesMatter whose sons were shot by police

Beyonce Brings Mothers of Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown & Oscar Grant to 2016 VMAs and I think this is why former New York Mayor Rudy Guliani went after her calling her anti-police.
Beyonce arrived at the 2016 VMAs (Aug. 28) with a sizable entourage -- not only was she accompanied by her daughter Blue Ivy (in a fairy tale princess dress), Parkwood signees Chloe x Halle, and model Winnie Harlow (among other Lemonade cast members).

Beyonce posed with Wanda Johnson, mother of Oscar Grant; Gwen Carr, mother of Eric Garner; Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin; and Lesley McSpadden-Head, mother of Michael "Mike" Brown, Jr. on the show's white carpet.

All four women also appeared in the star's recent visual album, which is nominated in a number of different categories including Breakthrough Long Form Video. In the film, they appear holding photos of their sons -- all of whom were tragically shot and killed in racially-charged situations by police.

#BREAKING Standoff with @ChrisBrown as woman claims he pointed GUN at her

Image result for chris brown

HNNAfrica is in Santa Monica and reporting this directly from TMZ. This is a bad situation. Police have retrieved at least one gun, other weapons and drugs from Chris Brown's home, after Chris threw a duffel bag out the window of his home ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ broke the story ... cops raced to Chris' home early Tuesday morning after a woman called 911 and claimed he pulled a gun on her.

Police have been at the house since 3 AM and are in the process of getting a search warrant. Chris has not left the house, but multiple sources tell us he was defiant as he threw the duffel bag out the window, taunting cops and saying, "Come and get me."

Chris posted a video in which he refers to Black Lives Matter, saying "f*** the police."
Two sources on scene tells us in addition to weapons there were drugs in the duffel bag.

As for the woman who called 911 ... she's a beauty pageant title holder.

The Latest now:

Attorney Mark Geragos has arrived and police are waiting for Chris to surrender. I hope this young man is not going down again. After the Rihanna thing, Chris was put on probation. I don't even know if that is still in effect as he may go back to jail. The latest now is that he has exited the house and police are checking people for weapons. A lot of people came out of that house according to a picture posted by CBS Los Angeles.

#Chicago's Parole system questioned after murder of Dwayne Wade's cousin Nykea Aldridge

Image result for nykea aldridge

Two weeks before police say Derren Sorrells and his brother murdered basketball star Dwyane Wade's cousin in Chicago on Friday, he walked out of a state prison after serving less than four years of a six-year sentence for possessing a stolen car.

A visibly angry Eddie Johnson, the city's police superintendent, said the case underscored the need to keep violent criminals behind bars longer.

"This reprehensible act of violence is an example of why we need to change the way we treat habitual offenders in the city of Chicago," Johnson said on Sunday.

On Monday, Mayor Rahm Emanuel weighed in, saying, "We keep coming upon the same facts: repeat gun offenders who continually run in and out of the criminal justice system with no consequences, who are back on the streets wreaking havoc," according to the Chicago Tribune.

Violence-plagued Chicago is not alone facing the problem of recidivism - the tendency for criminals to continue breaking the law even after being punished.

Across the United States, more than two-thirds of defendants released from state prisons were rearrested within five years, with the majority arrested within a year of release, according to a 2014 survey released by the U.S. Department of Justice.

At least 95 percent of all state prisoners will be released at some point.

Some criminal justice experts caution that limiting early release programs or imposing harsher sentences could backfire by increasing costs, straining overcrowded prisons and eliminating incentives for prisoners to behave well while incarcerated.

"It's easy after the fact to say: 'If I were king of the forest, I would never have let these two guys out,'" said Jeffrey Butts, a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York who studies the effectiveness of criminal justice programs.

Arrest in gang shooting of Nykea Aldridge, Dwayne Wade's cousin in #Chicago

Darwin Sorrells Jr., 26, and his brother Derren Sorrells, 22, were charged in the shooting death of Nykea Aldridge, a cousin of Bulls star Dwyane Wade.
Darwin Sorrells Jr and brother Derren Sorrells
Two BROTHERS were charged Sunday morning with the shooting death of Nykea Aldridge, a cousin of Chicago Bulls star Dwyane Wade. Derren Sorells, 22, and Darwin Sorells Jr., 26, were both charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder, Chicago Police said. Both men were ordered held without bail during a court hearing Sunday.

“Gentlemen, you pose such a threat to public safety,” Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois said. “You both are a danger.”

Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said the two Sorrells are an example of the city’s problem with repeat offenders, which he has spoken about frequently in recent months. Darwin Sorrells was sentenced to six years in prison in January 2013 on a gun charge and was released early on parole, while Derren Sorrells is a known gang member who also was on parole.

“They don’t care who they shoot and they don’t fear the consequences,” he said, noting as he has in the past that about 1,400 people are driving 85 percent of the city’s gun violence. He added that the city has gotten very good at predicting who will be the perpetrators and the victims of gun violence.

Aldridge was shot and killed while pushing a baby stroller Friday afternoon in the South Side Parkway Gardens neighborhood.

“My cousin was killed today in Chicago,” Wade tweeted Friday night. “Another act of senseless gun violence. 4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough.”

Aldridge, of the 6400 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, was taken to Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds to the head and arm and was pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

About 3:30 p.m., Aldridge, 32, was walking with a baby in a stroller and a man in the 6300 block of South Calumet when two male suspects walked up and fired shots at a third man, according to Chicago Police.

“As she was walking down the street some type of altercation occurred which didn’t involve her,” Deputy Chief of Detectives James Jones told reporters at Chicago Police headquarters Friday night.

A vigil for Aldridge is planned for Sunday afternoon.

Help @Chicago_Police find Nykea Aldridge's KILLERS (Dwayne Wade's cousin)

Image result for nykea aldridge

NBA star Dwyane Wade's cousin was an innocent bystander, police said, pushing her baby in a stroller near a Chicago school where she intended to register her children when she was fatally shot Friday.

Nykea Aldridge's famous relative tweeted to his nearly 6 million followers about her death, saying Friday it was an "act of senseless gun violence" and posting Saturday morning that his hometown of Chicago needs "more help& more hands on deck." Wade ended both days of tweets with the hashtag "EnoughIsEnough."

The 32-year-old mother of four recently relocated to an area on the city's South Side, her family said. She was near the school, which is about a mile and a half southwest of the University of Chicago, when two males walked up and fired shots at a third man but hit Aldridge in the head and arm. She wasn't the intended target, police said.

Police said Saturday they were questioning three "people of interest" in the shooting but had no suspects in custody.

Chicago has been plagued by gun violence for years, especially in a few South and West Side neighborhoods. This July alone, there were 65 homicides — the most that month since 2006.

Wade, whose charitable organization, Wade's World Foundation, does community outreach in the Chicago area, signed with the Chicago Bulls in July after 13 years with the Miami Heat. He and his mother, pastor Jolinda Wade, participated Thursday via satellite in a town hall meeting in Chicago on gun violence hosted by ESPN.

"My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence. 4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough," he tweeted Friday.

10yo boy SHOOTS and KILLS his Neo Nazi father

In this 2010 photo, Jeffrey Hall holds a neo-Nazi flag near his home in Riverside, Calif.
Sandy Huffaker AP

Jeffrey Hall was unequivocal about what he wanted.

“I want a white nation,” he once told the Los Angeles Times. “I don’t hide what I am, and I don’t water that down.”

An unemployed plumber who used to patrol the U.S.-Mexico border looking for illegal immigrants, Hall was a rising star among white supremacists.

He would often speak at rallies, promoting the goals of the National Socialist Movement, the largest neo-Nazi organization in the country, with 46 chapters in 20 states. In a YouTube video of a 2009 anti-immigration rally in Southern California, Hall, the National Socialist Movement’s regional director there, is seen holding a megaphone with a smiling Hitler emoji sticker on it as he proclaims the need for “white immigration” and a “pro-white” America.

But Hall’s rise in the movement ended abruptly. He died in May 2011, when he was shot at point-blank range while sleeping on his living room couch.

The killer — in a shocking twist — was his 10-year-old son, Joseph, a troubled boy whose childhood was fraught with violence perpetrated by his father.

As the oldest of Hall’s children, Joseph, it seemed, was first in line to get a glimpse of his father’s activities, including shooting guns and patrolling the Mexican border for illegal immigrants. But Joseph also bore the brunt of Hall’s violent outbursts.

On May 1, 2011, hours after a meeting of the neo-Nazi group at Hall’s house in Southern California, the boy took his father’s revolver from the upstairs bedroom where his stepmother was sleeping.

Joseph fired a bullet into his father’s head, just behind his father’s left ear.

As his 32-year-old father lay lifeless in a pool of blood, Joseph admitted what he had done.

“I shot dad,” he told his stepmother, according to court records.

During an interrogation that lasted more than an hour, Joseph was allowed to give up his Miranda rights — a decision the boy made without an attorney’s guidance and, some argue, without fully understanding what that entailed.

And as Joseph’s statements to police suggest, he understood little about death and its lasting consequences.

“How many lives do people usually get?” Joseph asked police officers after they arrived at the crime scene, according to court records.

Joseph has been in custody since his father’s death. In 2013, the boy was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to serve 10 years in a California juvenile facility.

Many child advocates and politicians think the boy’s conviction was flawed. They argue that Joseph, a child with developmental disabilities, could not have realized the wrongfulness of what he had done — and could not have understood what it meant when he gave up his Miranda rights while being interrogated by police after the shooting.

Joseph’s culpability and the issue of allowing children to waive their Miranda rights without any legal guidance are now the subject of proposed legislation in California, as well as a pending appeal to the nation’s highest court.

“There’s not a 10-year-old on the planet who ought to be in a position of waiving a constitutional right without an advice from an adult,” said Scott Ballenger, part of Joseph’s legal team, which has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review Joseph’s appeal, after it was denied by the California courts.

Five years after Hall’s death, Joseph’s case prompted California legislators to introduce a bill that would provide children with some layer of protection from police interrogation.

Unlike some states, California doesn’t have a law that requires young children to receive legal guidance from an attorney or a guardian before they’re interrogated.

Introduced in February, Senate Bill 1052 could potentially affect hundreds of children like Joseph who enter the criminal justice system at a young age. It would require those younger than 18 to first consult with an attorney or a legal guardian before they’re allowed to waive their Miranda rights — and before they’re interrogated by a police officer.

The bill has been approved by the California Senate and Assembly and was sent back to the Senate this week for a final vote.

“We have to update our laws to be realistic, to be sure that children have protection before they’re aggressively interrogated,” the bill’s author, state Sen. Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens), told The Washington Post. “Young people don’t grasp what they’re agreeing to.”

SB 1052, if it becomes law, won’t have any effect on Joseph’s case, though it spurred the legislation.

NBA's Dwayne Wade's who advocated to #EndGunViolence's female cousin SHOT DEAD in #Chicago

Image result for nba stars end gun violence

Chicago’s gun violence is horrifying and almost incomprehensible. According to the Chicago Tribune, which keeps a running tally of shootings, 2,739 people have been shooting victims since January 1, 2016. That’s seemingly impossibly high, yet it’s the truth.

On Friday, that violence claimed another victim, and the details are heartbreaking:

Dwyane Wade’s cousin was shot to death while pushing a child in a stroller on Chicago’s South Side, police and family said Friday.

The 32-year-old woman, apparently the unintended victim of a gang shooting, was walking around 3:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of South Calumet when two males approached another male and opened fire, police said.

The woman who was shot was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where she was pronounced dead. A relative took custody of the child, police said.

Pastor Edward Jones, a relative and family spokesperson, said the victim is a mother of four and had just had a baby. Jones said the woman and her family had recently relocated to the neighborhood and she was on her way to register her kids at school when she was shot.

That’s incredibly sad. Wade, of course, took part in the ESPY’s opening segment this summer, when he, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul called for an end to gun violence. His words might ring even truer today. If you have any information about the shooters, you are asked to contact Chicago Police.

Chicago: Donald Trump Says City's Violence Could Be Stopped in 1 Week With Tougher Police Tactics

Trump told Fox News he met with "very top police" who said the violence could be stopped in one week. Trump didn't meet with any senior commanders, a Chicago Police spokesman told The Chicago Tribune. I believe him when it comes to that idea of tough policing.

Chicago's gang problem is the issue now. Instead of the police over there to focus on the bigger picture, they are saying Trump made it all up and did not meet with anyone.

The American University in #Kabul attacked by gunmen leaving 1 dead and 26 injured

Explosions and gunfire reported as gunmen storm the university, killing at least one person and injuring 26 others. At least one person has been killed after armed men attacked the campus of the American University of Afghanistan in Kabul, according to an official and a student.

At least 26 others were injured in the attack on Wednesday evening, according to health officials.

"Several gunmen attacked the American University in Kabul and there are reports of gunfire and explosions," Mohammad Saleem Rasouly, the head of Kabul's hospitals, told the Reuters news agency.

"[The attackers] are inside the compound and there are foreign professors along with hundreds of students."

Dozens of soldiers cordoned off the area after the attack started on Wednesday evening, when the elite private university is usually packed with students, many of them working professionals doing part-time courses at the facility.

Police have 60 hours worth of video to help solve Kid Cali's pool party MURDER

The rapper, whose real name was Justin Lishey, was hit by several shots, along with two other men who were wounded by gunfire at about 9 p.m. Saturday. The shooting occurred at a large home that had been rented for the “Millions of Models Mansion Pool Party,” police said. Dorthea Devilla, a friend of the rapper, said she stood a few away during the incident, which occurred in the backyard near a deejay. She said that she didn’t see the gun, but a man approached Justin and tried to shake his hand and the recording artist declined.

“We heard shots and everyone ran,” she said. “Then I heard Justin was shot and I ran back. He was laying on the ground and I held his hand. It took ages for the paramedics to come.”

“He was talking with a gunshot wound in his shoulder, his back and hand and I tried to keep him awake,” she said. “ ‘You’re not going to die,’ I told him.” Devilla said that Cali’s injuries didn’t seem life-threatening when he arrived at the hospital. But doctors found more gunshot wounds and discovered internal bleeding and he quickly became critical, she said.

Although hundreds attended the party, many witnesses fled the mansion after the shots were fired and before police arrived. The home in the 12400 block of Longacre Avenue had been rented out for the party, and buses shuttled partygoers to the event from a nearby church. According to a promotional flier, Kid Red, a performer with ties to R&B star Chris Brown, was scheduled to perform that evening. Lishey had posted the flier on his Kid Cali Instagram account.

As Kid Cali, Lishey had been signed to NFL player DeSean Jackson’s Jaccpot Entertainment, but the company said Monday that he was no longer affiliated with the label.

Among those who expressed condolences following Lishey’s death was rapper Snoop Dogg, who tweeted a photo of the slain performer along with the message “Rest well young g.”

Daniel Kevin Harris a WHITE DEAF and MUTE man Gunned down in #NorthCarolina by cop during traffic stop

NINTCHDBPICT000261375474

Father-of-one Daniel Kevin Harris, 29, was gunned down outside his own home in North Carolina by Charlotte state trooper Jermaine Saunders last Thursday. According to authorities, the officer tried to pull Harris over after he observed him speeding but the deaf driver continued to his own house leading Saunders on a brief pursuit.

Police say that when the victim stopped his car, he exited the vehicle and approached Saunders which resulted in the fatal shooting.

However, WCNC reports that witnesses said unarmed Harris was shot ‘almost immediately’ after getting out his car. Onlookers said the 29-year-old, who has a four-year-old son, was trying to communicate using sign language.

But officer Saunders claims he killed Harris, who died at the scene, because he was moving towards him and not responding to his commands.

The victim’s grieving family, who are also hearing impaired, claim Harris would not have understood the situation and would have been afraid.

He was white and you won't see the outrage with Black Lives Matters in this one. Officer Saunders has been placed on paid administrative leave following the incident and will be investigated by the State Bureau of Investigation.

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police report identified Harris as hearing impaired and white.

Harris family has raised over $13,000 so far through a fundraising page following his death for his funeral costs.

The page’s post reads: “He was unarmed when shot and killed by a state trooper. Pls donate.

UPDATE on #Alabama massacre: Derrick Dearman abducted estranged girlfriend killing relatives

Police: Pregnant woman among 5 dead in southern Alabama home
Derrick Dearman via Facebook
The five people slain in a massacre at a south Alabama home included a woman who was five months pregnant, Mobile County authorities said.

The suspect, Derrick Dearman, attacked them as they slept and then abducted his estranged girlfriend, Laneta Lester, and an infant from the home, a sheriff's captain said. Both of them were found alive.

Dearman, 27, of Leakesville, Mississippi, will be charged with six counts of capital murder, Mobile County sheriff's spokeswoman Lori Myles said Sunday. Five counts stem from the killing of Shannon Melissa Randall, 35; Justin Kaleb Reed, 23; Joseph Adam Turner, 26; and Robert Lee Brown, also 26. The additional count is because 22-year-old Chelsea Marie Reed, was 5 months pregnant, Myles said.

The bodies were found Saturday afternoon inside the home in Citronelle, a small town 30 miles northwest of Mobile.

The crime was of a magnitude rarely if ever seen in this corner of rural, southern Alabama, Mobile County sheriff's Capt. Paul Burch said.

"It's unprecedented here," Burch told The Associated Press.

#BREAKING #Rapper Kid Cali has been SHOT DEAD at a Granada Hills pool party!

Desean Jackson’s Jaccpot-affiliated artist Kid Cali was shot and killed at a Granada Hills pool party Saturday (August 20) night at about 9 p.m. He was 28 years old and leaves behind a young daughter and had another child on the way.

Two others were also shot in the multi-million dollar neighborhood home and are expected to survive.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the tragedy and are trying to figure out who owns the home. The party was allegedly held by Chris Brown‘s ex-OHB friend Kid Red, according to a flyer posted on Kid Cali’s Instagram.

The gunman allegedly shot the Los Angeles-based rapper six times and quickly got away on foot. Kid Cali was taken to the Holy Cross Hospital by ambulance after the pool party guests called 911.

Desean Jackson, Chris Brown, Mozzy, Nipsey Hussle and Snoop Dogg among many other celebrities have tweeted out their support for Kid Cali. He lived a life that affected many people’s lives positively. His unique, grimy-sounding way of rapping made him a stand-out star.

Cali was signed to Washington Redskins wide receiver Desean Jackson’s Jaccpot Records until they eventually parted ways. He’s recorded tracks with Skippa Da Flippa, Kid Red, Nipsey Hussle and Sacramento rap boss Mozzy among others.

His last tweet showed the excitement on going to the pool party. This is getting too tragic and out of hand. 4 rappers in month alone. Lor Scooter, his manager, Swipey and now Kid Cali. Reminds me of 1996 and 1997 with Biggie and Tupac murdered! See the tributes from the big rappers here.

HELP @BaltimorePolice find who killed Late rapper Lor Scoota's manager Trayvon Lee

The hate is real. First a lone gunman killed Lor Scoota in traffic then his manager was gunned down right outside his house. There is someone who definitely wanted YBS down. Lee was the CEO, his most prized artist killed, followed by him 3 weeks later. There are people who know something and they need to snitch or send tips anonymously.
Trayvon "Truz" Lee, was killed in Northwest Baltimore Wednesday night, according to The Baltimore Sun. Lee was the CEO of YBS Records and a relative to popular dirt bike rider Chino Braxton. He was 24 years old.

According to police, Lee was shot multiple times in his upper body in what is being dubbed a deliberate attack outside a home where he reportedly lived. Police have not named suspects the shooting.

"The city I did so much for an put it all behind had betrayed me bro," Braxton wrote on Instagram. "They took you [a] person who means so much to me my brother." In the post, Braxton also recognizes that he will take care of Lee's son like his own. 19-year-old Braxton was actually shot two times in the head in Baltimore just this past February. Miracuously, Braxton survived.

Braxton also addressed everything on Twitter in a series of tweets where he called out the city of Baltimore and the urgent need for everyone to do things better. "They tell us to keep it real but kill us!" he admits flatly before bringing the whole thing home with a chilling note that his little sister was there to witness him getting shot in the head.

The tragic loss comes less than two weeks after 23-year-old Lor Scoota, a rising Baltimore rapper, was shot and killed in broad daylight Saturday in Northeast Baltimore. Hours before his death, Scoota hosted charity basketball game called "Touch the People Pray for Peace in These Streets." Meek Mill, The Game, and Yo Gotti all jumped on social media to mourn the senseless loss and pray for Scoot's family.

Braxton's message is clear. The devastating loss of life that is happening far too often needs to stop.

DMV Rapper Swipey SHOT DEAD early Sunday at party in mom's house #RIPSwipey

Kevin Baldwin, the manager of Douglas Brooks, aka Swipey, told Heavy.com the rapper was shot early Sunday at a party at his mother's house in Suitland, Md., and pronounced dead at the scene. Suitland is a very bad neighborhood in the Washington DC area.

Before his death, Swipey was known as an up-and-coming rapper from the Washington, D.C. area. He released hits like "Best Friend" and "Dirty" and collaborated with artists like Shy Glizzy and Lil Durk. He also released his album Sorry Not Sorry just last month.

I loved his music and even heard from some eyewitnesses that he was fighting with a girl that he used to mess with at the party. So who shot Swipey? You need to call Morningside or Prince Georgia's county Police if you know or saw something. It's the right thing to do. #RIPSwipey. Killed in his own home at his own party.

Derrick Dearman confesses to MURDER of 5 people in #Citronelle #Alabama

derrick-dearman-5.jpg
Facebook (Derrick Dearman)

CITRONELLE, Ala. - It may take investigators days to untangle a grisly murder scene at a southern Alabama home where five adults, including one pregnant female, were found murdered, authorities said Sunday.

Police said the victims were found Saturday afternoon inside the residence located in the city of Citronelle, about 30 miles northwest of Mobile. A 4-month-old infant also was found alive at the home.
Authorities were still working to identify the bodies and notify relatives, Capt. Paul Burch of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office told reporters early Sunday morning.

“Given the way the scene looks, we’re going to be here a couple of days,” Burch said. “It’s obviously a horrific scene.”

Officials in the sheriff’s office tell CBS Mobile affiliate WKRG-TV that multiple weapons were used in the crime, including a gun. Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich said in her entire career she’s never seen a crime scene as horrific as this one. Burch said suspect Derrick Dearman of Leakesville, Miss., was taken into custody after he walked into the Greene County Sheriff’s Office Saturday afternoon and confessed to the crimes. Burch said he expects Dearman to face five or six counts of capital murder.

“Sad to say, one of the females was about five months pregnant,” Burch said.

Burch and Rich revealed few specifics of the scene, but said it was clear that firearms and at least one other type of weapon had been used. Burch said that it wasn’t immediately clear whether the victims had been attacked while sleeping or had engaged in a prolonged struggle.

“We’re not there yet,” Rich said, when asked about details of the deaths. “We have a horrible scene here.”

Burch said it appeared events began unfolding in the early hours of Saturday morning. Somewhere between midnight and 1 a.m., residents of the house had called 911 to report a trespasser. Burch said it was his understanding that during the call Dearman had been identified as the trespasser.

Burch said he understood that Citronelle police responded to the call, but found no one.

Burch said it appeared the murders had taken place later Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon, a woman reported to Citronelle police that she’d been kidnapped and escaped. Information from her account led Citronelle police to the house on Jim Platt Road. Burch said investigators believed the woman who contacted police had an undtermined relationship with Dearman.

An investigation is ongoing.

Musician Dimebag Darrell SHOT and KILLED onstage 2004 would have been 50yo August 20th

Dimebag Darrell was born Darrell Abbott on Aug. 20, 1966. He was a founding member of Pantera and Damageplan. He was fatally shot on stage during a Damageplan show in Ohio on Dec. 8, 2004.

On December 8, 2004, Abbott was murdered onstage while performing with Damageplan at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. Moments into the band's set, 25-year-old former Marine Nathan Gale, using a 9 mm Beretta 92FS pistol, shot Abbott three times in the head, killing him instantly. Some in attendance initially believed the shooting was part of the act, but as Gale continued shooting, the audience quickly came to the realization that the event was not staged. Having fired a total of 15 shots, Gale killed a total of four people while wounding seven others.

Jeff "Mayhem" Thompson, the band's head of security, was killed tackling Gale, as was Alrosa Villa employee Erin Halk. Audience member Nathan Bray was killed while trying to perform CPR on Abbott and Thompson. It was rumored that one crowd member leapt in front of the gunman, saving the lives of several band members.  Damageplan's drum technician, John "Kat" Brooks, was shot three times as he attempted to get the gun away from Gale, but was overpowered and taken hostage in a headlock position. Tour manager Chris Paluska was also injured.

Seven police officers entered through the front entrance and moved toward the stage. Officer James Niggemeyer came in through the back door, behind the stage. Gale only saw the officers in front of the stage; he did not see Niggemeyer, who was armed with a 12 gauge Remington 870 shotgun. He approached Gale from the opposite side of the stage to avoid hitting the hostage and fired a single shot just as Gale looked towards Niggemeyer, striking Gale in the face with eight of the nine buckshot pellets, killing him instantly. Gale was found to have had 35 rounds of ammunition remaining.

Two fans administered CPR on Abbott until paramedics arrived, but were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Early speculation about motive suggested that Gale, who was a Pantera fan, might have turned to violence in response to the breakup of the band, or the public dispute between Abbott and Pantera singer Phil Anselmo, but these were later ruled out by investigators.  In VH1's documentary Behind the Music, Damageplan's sound engineer Aaron Barnes states that the whole time, after shooting Dimebag, Gale was looking for Vinnie,  possibly planning on murdering him too. Another conjecture was that Gale believed Abbott had stolen a song that he had written. About six months prior to the shooting, Gale got into an altercation at a Damageplan concert in Cincinnati where he da
maged $5,000 worth of equipment while being removed from the stage by security.

MOBILE COUNTY, ALABAMA — The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is investigating multiple homicides in the Citronelle area Saturday afternoon, CBS Mobile, Alabama affiliate WRKG reported.

According to a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, deputies have a suspect in custody in Greene County, Mississippi. At this time, there does not appear to be a search for any additional suspects.

According to a tweet from the sheriff’s office, there were five victims. I am blogging this story here because there is a high likelihood of gun violence involved here. I'm even hearing that one of the victims is presumed pregnant. More in the coming days.

Timothy Batts who SHOT his daughter to death tests positive for COCAINE. Bail may be revoked

Timothy Batts, the Hendersonville man charged in the shooting death of his 11-year-old daughter, Timea, has failed a drug test, according to Sumner County District Attorney Ray Whitley.

Whitley said he was notified of the failed drug screen Friday and has filed a motion to revoke Batts' bond.

According to the state's motion on file at the Sumner County Courthouse, Batts tested positive for cocaine on Monday.

During an Aug. 12 bond hearing, investigators with the Hendersonville Police Department gave testimony that suggested Batts told at least two different versions of what led to Timea's death. He initially told police Timea arrived from Knox Doss Middle School on Aug. 8, entered the home and yelled she had been shot.

Batts later told police he had been sleeping and thought Timea was an intruder, according to his arrest affidavit. However, video surveillance collected from the home showed Batts had been awake and was talking on the phone with a gun in his hand a few minutes before his daughter arrived home from her first day of sixth grade.

Timea's funeral was held Tuesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Nashville.

Batts, 29, was released from the Sumner County Jail the night of Aug. 12. Earlier that day, Judge James Hunter lowered his bond from $1 million to $500,000. Batts has been charged with reckless homicide, tampering with evidence, false reporting and possessing a firearm as a felon.

Hunter said if Batts made bail, he would be required to report to an officer once a week and pass random and regular drug and alcohol tests. Additionally, he was not to be in possession of a firearm or pick up new criminal charges.

Batts is scheduled to appear in Hunter's courtroom for a bond revocation hearing Aug. 26.
