A gunman killed a reporter and videographer for a CBS affiliate in Virginia in a shooting that was broadcast live Wednesday morning.
Alison Parker and Adam Ward, a reporter and cameraman for CBS Roanoke affiliate WDBJ-TV, died in the shooting, Parker's mother confirmed to CBS News.
WDBJ-TV reports that deputies from Franklin County and Bedford County were on the scene.
The shooting happened at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Virginia.
Police are looking for a suspect who apparently opened fire on WDBJ7's photographer Adam Ward and reporter Alison Parker.
Adam was 27-years-old. Alison just turned 24.
Both were from the WDBJ7 viewing area.
Adam graduated from Salem High School and Virginia Tech.
Alison grew up in Martinsville and attended Patrick Henry Community College and James Madison University.
This is so sad and that gunman needs to be found ASAP. The station tweeted several condolence messages to their viewers. this affects everyone. I used to do live shots too during my days in America and cannot imagine a lone deranged gunman with a hate filled mind targeting innocent people.
The shooting was caught on LIVE TV at 6.45am. However many have said it should not be shown in it's entirety anymore but just the part of the gunman below.
Let us remember them this way. RIP Alison and Adam.
