God forbid that gun went off inside the club, many would have been killed just like Danzig, Aurora or any other mass shooting out there. Everyone has pleaded to Drake to speak out and denounce gun violence in the Muzik shootings which happened at his own event afterparty. What the local media does not understand is that Drake's denouncing of gun violence during the Danzig shootings which left 2 dead and 28 shot was a little different.
Drake’s publicist, Melissa Nathan of New York-based communications firm Hiltzik Strategies, declined to comment on the Muzik shootings, a sharp contrast from the Danzig mass shooting where he posted on social media. “My condolences go out to the family and friends of Shyanne Charles and Joshua Yasay. Senseless violence in Toronto has to stop,” Drake tweeted after the Danzig mass shooting of 2012.
He also lent his voice to a 2013 Snoop Lion track, “No Guns Allowed,” in which he raps about that “summer day that went horribly wrong” in Toronto.

Shyanne Charles (girl in red t-shirt) was killed over there at Danzig the BBQ that went wrong and 28 were shot. This girl was at the very event Spike4Life Drake hosted with longtime childhood pal rapper P Reign at an indoor volleyball match which I covered while I lived in Toronto in 2012. My son KJ in the HipHossip t-shirt and Shyanne were among the kids P Reign was raising money for at the Boys and Girls club of Scarborough at the event and that touched PReign so bad, he actually called Drake to come to town and they did a memorial song for Shyanne and the other young man Joshua Yasay who also died.
So why the silence everyone asks? When Drake was robbed going to now jailed producer rapper Mayor Morearty's studio some years back in the Lawrence avenue area, he REPORTED the robbery to police and allegedly said he was set up. There was an outrage from the hip-hop community that he "snitched" and some rappers even made fun of him in songs. This whole notion that people must not report crimes is baffling and I weighed on it while I lived there until convicted Murderer Rapper Capitol P called me "Snitchlady" while pissed off with what he called on a Facebook post as my "community crusade to get to Hollywood" lolz.
I loved the name and called myself Snitchlady on all social media and the rest is history. I am proud to be called a SNITCH! Crimes must be reported. This is the main problem here in Nigeria with Boko Haram. There are people who know the people making the bombs and even strapping them on girls bombing the whole of Northern Nigeria. Nobody will report to the police. Even my longtime Canadian rapper friend Classified who did a PSA for Toronto Crimestoppers decided he wanted it pulled after 7 years claiming it ruined his image in the rap industry and record sales. Also renowned Toronto Music Producer JStaffz wanted his PSA removed too. The list goes on and on. I once brought hip-hop figures and police together to record these public service announcements in 2010 when the death toll was BAD! I still believe that they have the biggest influence and power to change these things.

He was directly involved as he met the little girl and hosted an event designed to prevent such things from happening. So why not Muzik? These people paid to attend his event and were his fans. OMG, I wish Drake had attended their funerals. What an impact that could have made. I use my voice and public figure status here at home to influence people all the time especially in the area of the same violence that made me flee to Canada in 2007.
