UPDATE: Now 3 people are reportedly dead and at least one other is in critical condition in a pair of shootings at a Jewish community center and retirement community in Overland Park, Kansas.
Police told ABC affiliate KMBC-TV in Kansas City that one person was killed in the town's Jewish Community Center and another was killed at Village Shalom, which is nearby.
At least one person was confirmed to be in critical condition at the local medical center.
Rabbi Arthur Nemitoff, senior Rabbit at The Temple, Congregation B'nai Jehudah, located about a mile from the Jewish Community Center told ABC News that police arrived after the shooting around 1:45 p.m. and have stationed a police car there as a precautionary measure.
Nemitoff said police also told him about the shooting at Village Shalom, which is about a half-mile from the temple.
