Gun Deaths in America is OUTGROWING Vehicle accident DEATHS! See the latest figures.

New research shows more people have died in Michigan from shootings than car accidents for the third year in a row.

In 2011, the most recent year for which comprehensive nationwide data was available, Michigan recorded 1,156 gun deaths and 1,016 motor vehicle deaths, according to an analysis from the Violence Policy Center.

Gun deaths include gun suicides, homicides and fatal unintentional shootings; motor vehicle deaths include both occupants and pedestrians.

Michigan is among 13 other states where the number of shooting deaths is higher than the amount of deaths caused by car accidents.

This is the third year the center has issued its annual report comparing gun deaths to motor vehicle deaths by state. Previous reports found there were more gun deaths than motor vehicle deaths in Michigan both in 2009 and 2010.

More than 90 percent of American households own a car, while little more than a third of American households have a gun, according to researchers. Americans’ exposure to motor vehicles vastly outweighs their exposure to firearms. Yet in 2011, there were 32,351 gun deaths and 35,543 motor vehicle deaths nationwide. In 1999, there were 28,874 gun deaths and 42,624 motor vehicle deaths nationwide.

Here are figures for each of the 14 states and the District of Columbia:

Alaska: 126 gun deaths, 87 motor vehicle deaths

Arizona: 964 gun deaths, 872 motor vehicle deaths

Colorado: 573 gun deaths, 512 motor vehicle deaths

District of Columbia: 86 gun deaths, 39 motor vehicle deaths

Illinois: 1,114 gun deaths, 1,080 motor vehicle deaths

Louisiana: 865 gun deaths, 750 motor vehicle deaths

Maryland: 542 gun deaths, 517 motor vehicle deaths

Michigan: 1,156 gun deaths, 1,016 motor vehicle deaths

Nevada: 376 gun deaths, 281 motor vehicle deaths

Ohio: 1,227 gun deaths, 1,178 motor vehicle deaths

Oregon: 420 gun deaths, 371 motor vehicle deaths

Utah: 308 gun deaths, 277 motor vehicle deaths

Vermont: 78 gun deaths, 62 motor vehicle deaths

Nigerian man SENTENCED to 263 years for drugs and weapons charges in America

A 53-year-old U.S-based Nigerian man, Felix Okafor, who migrated to the U.S in 1981, has been sentenced to 263 years in prison for drugs and weapons distribution/sales and money laundering.

According to Punch, Okafor purchased a convenience store in Benson, North Carolina, called “Flying Eagles Groceries,” which he ran himself. However, it was discovered that the store was just a cover-up for his illegal activities.

Residents became suspicious of Okafor over time, because he didn’t seem to care about his supposed business.

The store was reportedly disorganised and dirty and always “half empty.” Also, he often sold residents expired food items and groceries.

What raised further suspicion was that strange people with expensive cars would always visit the store at odd hours.

Eventually, the store drew the attention of federal, state and local authorities, who began to conduct undercover investigations.

Okafor’s store was under surveillance for about 10 months. Unknown to him, during that period, many of the drugs and weapons transactions he conducted with “customers” were actually undercover agents.

He was subsequently arrested and convicted of “25 drug and gun charges, including 11 counts of possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, six counts of distribution of heroin and four counts of distribution of marijuana, and money laundering.”

He is currently serving his 263-year sentence at the United States Penitentiary in West Virginia.

Yet ANOTHER Recording Studio shooting! This one in Atlanta last night!

The last ones killed Waka Flocka's protege Rapper Slim Dunkin and then there was RapperTony Trapz in Toronto's Scarborough, now another one in Atlanta.

Police are investigating a deadly shooting at a music studio in southeast Atlanta.

It happened at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at a warehouse building on Lakewood Avenue.

Police say they found 22-year-old Anthony Hill, Jr. dead when they arrived. Lt. Charles Hampton with the Atlanta Police Department says Hill was shot several times.

Police say a large group was gathered at the studio when the shooting happened and around a dozen people witnessed the shooting.

They took two people in for questioning.

The parents of one of the men put in the back of a patrol car told Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach their son was standing next to his friend when he was killed. They say he ran from the building because he was scared.

Investigators are working to determine if there was more than one person involved in the shooting.

“(We) don’t know if it was just one gunman or an exchange of gunfire,” said Hampton.

Police have not identified a suspect yet, but told Gehlbach they do not believe the shooting was random.
